The tongue of hiking boots presses against the top of the foot to provide a snug and secure fit. This helps to prevent the foot from sliding around inside the boot, reducing the risk of blisters and discomfort. The pressure from the tongue also helps to distribute the weight and impact of each step more evenly, providing better support and stability while hiking. **

When hiking shoes pinch the tongue, it can cause discomfort and irritation while walking. This can lead to blisters, hot spots, and even cuts on the top of the foot. It is important to address this issue by adjusting the lacing system or trying different lacing techniques to relieve the pressure on the tongue of the shoe. If the problem persists, it may be necessary to consider getting a different pair of hiking shoes that fit better and provide more comfort. **

The shoe tongue is designed to sit snugly against the instep during hiking to prevent debris from entering the shoe and causing discomfort. As the foot moves and flexes during hiking, the shoe tongue moves with it, maintaining a close fit against the instep. This helps to provide stability and support to the foot, reducing the risk of blisters or hot spots. The tongue can become numb after getting a tongue piercing due to the trauma caused to the nerves and tissues in the area during the piercing process. This trauma can lead to temporary nerve damage, resulting in numbness or a tingling sensation in the tongue. The body's natural response to this trauma is to reduce sensation in the area to help with the healing process. Over time, as the tongue heals, the numbness should subside and normal sensation should return. **
